Leak Detection Methods for Repairing Water Leaks at Home

Water leak detection can be accomplished in several ways. If you find that you are using more water than you expected upon receipt of the water bill, you may want to check to make sure there are no water leaks on the property. Leak detection testing is likely to occur in many areas of the property, such as pool filters, sprinkler systems, faucets, and toilets.

Locating a leak is often quite a difficult process if you are not in the most obvious areas, so if you are having difficulty detecting a leak, you may want to rely on the services of a licensed plumber.

Here are some of the main areas to check for water leaks:

Faucets – Inspecting faucets for signs of leaks is a relatively straightforward process. Check the kitchen and bathroom for wet areas under the sinks. If you detect wet spots, it is sure to indicate that there is a leak that needs to be repaired as soon as possible to avoid causing damage to the local area.

The exterior of the home: Looking for signs of water leaks outside the home is often a more difficult process. One area that is often found in the course of water wastage is the sprinkler system. A sprinkler head tends to break after prolonged use and this can result in excessive water leakage. Upgrading the sprinkler head or the entire system is likely to quickly resolve this issue.
